Editing our film
Today we are still in the editing suite editing our work. We added a few similar sound effect in order for the film to flow consistantly and continuiously. But there is still room for improvement thats why we booked the computer for tomorrow.

Editing suite
Today we came into the editing suite during our own time and we edited another 3 sences. The short film is coming together very well and we are flying through the editing process; which will benefit us on the long run.

Editing suite- using the Mac's
My group were ahead of schedule therefore we went ahead to the editing suite to go through our work. We went through a few of the scenes but because we didn't have access to all of our shoots, so we couldn't start to edit. But we saw the clips and we deleted the unnecessary clips that we didn't need.

on the macs-
Today we were in our groups using the I Mac's. The whole lesson a teacher was going throught the basic techniques we can achieve on final cut pro, we practiced through the hour with a recording of someone else's work. We played about, trying different and possible techniques we would use on our own work. This was to get us ready for our editing of our work. We will start on filming some time this week. We learnt how to modify the audio in the recording, fading, cross-over dissolving techniques, something that is used in films that have been fast forward in time in particular scenes, instead of showing the full journey. And many more techniques we hope to put into actiom into our own production to make it look more professional looking.

planned out storyboard-
today as a group we finished our main ideas in each scene for the storyboard.
Story board:
Amy is the main girl
Emma is the ghost girl
First’s scene:

Establishing shot of the house (1st location)-
panelling up to down
·
Long shot of the girl carrying her luggage and
looking at what is in front of her which is her new house
·
The next shot is of her new guardian (foster
mum) by the door welcoming her in ,close up and smiling
1st scene:

Close shot of a hand signing a piece of paper
that says adoption form
·
Then we bring up the title of the film name and
introduce director’s name and character name.
2nd scene: Arrived at the new house:
·
She rings the doorbell, her adopted mum appears
and hugs her.
·
Her mum takes her bags and enters the kitchen
·
She walks upstairs and enters the study room and
finds it all clutters with paper, she then opens a chest draw in front of her,
she finds a piece of paper with an image of a girl that has details of her
being previously adopted but died in a tragic accident. Underneath the paper
she finds the medallion, it looks pretty to her so she wears it.
·
She enters her bedroom and goes to sleep.
3rd scene: Hollow ponds:

She finds a girl with her back towards her
sitting on the log. As she approaches her she vanishes.
4th scene: House: bedroom:
·
Main girl wakes up in shock and feels her
medallion
·
Her mother then reassures her that it is nothing
as she is awoken by shock.
5th scene: Outside near her school:
·
As she is walking towards her first day at
school, she looks into a car window and fixes herself where she touches her
medallion, a face appears soon after which is the ghost, then disappears after
a second.
6th scene: bedroom:
·
She hears noises from her cupboard and the
cupboard door moving
·
She then walks towards the cupboard and opens it
but doesn’t look inside because she faces the other way as her mum is calling
her, the audience then see the ghost face appear but as soon as she looks the
cupboard way, the face disappears so she thinks it is nothing to worry about.
·
She then has a nap
7th scene: hollow pond:
·
Finds herself next to the log, where she is very
puzzled and confused and she is looking all around. All of a sudden the ghost
taps her on her shoulder.
·
She gets really, starts running from the ghost,
Point of view camera shot, which also includes panting and heavy breathing.
8th scene: Bedroom
·
She wakes up from the dream to find her step
mum, standing in the doorway, smiling.
·
The girl says to her mum, “I didn’t hear you
come in”, mum replies “I wanted to make sure u fell asleep safe and sound”.
·
Her mum then leaves her room, she then touches
her medallion and speaks “there is something weird going on to do with this
necklace”, then goes back to sleep.
9th scene: street
·
She walks towards the bus stop which she sees an
open bag so sits down on the bus stop and chucks the medallion in the bag and
leaves.
10th scene: Bedroom
·
She grabs a jumper from the cupboard and put it
on her whilst looking at the mirror. She then sees the medallion on the floor
and when she looks at the mirror she sees the ghost girl appear.
·
She turns around and speaks to the ghost girl
‘who are you’ the ghost girl explains to wear the medallion and tonight’s
dream, you will get all your answers.
11th scene: hollow pond:
·
She falls asleep and finds herself in the dream
in the forest sitting on the log. The ghost girl is sat next to her.
Dialogue:
·
Main girl: Hang on, you’re the girl that is
following me around.
·
Ghost girl: There’s not much time left, you’re
in serious danger!
·
Main girl: What kind of danger?
·
G G: The danger I was put in before I died.
·
M G: what do you mean?
·
G G: I was adopted like you.
(Medallion is worn by the ghost girl, this
is reflected to the camera, and then the camera goes into a close up shot to
the medallion; which then leads the main character to ask her about it because
the medallion the main character found the same medallion to the one around the
ghost girl’s neck.)

M G: who gave that medallion to you?

scene by scene description-
We finished up on our plan for each scene that will be in our storyboards that contribute to the making of our short film.
Story board:

length shot), action -(what is happening in the scene), lighting and timing-(

Group discussion for ideas and a possible plot
Today me and my group discussed our final ideas for our film. We developed our initial ideas and came up with a few final points however we still need to finish on some stages of the film, props, character, location etc. We have decided to develop our ideas that are initially on spiderscribe. The updated section, which was added in today's lesson, is in red.

My first A2 media class
The first 2/3 lessons, we have been training to use; a sound system, camera equipment (DSLR), filming techniques and learning how to use the camera. After we learnt how to set the DSLR camera we had to complete our task, which was to film a short clip named "the secret". Our group based the clip in the street starting the clip with an establishing shot and then filming students buying drinks off another instead of buying it at the vending machine. It was 1 minute. This gore us use to using the camera and we discussed all the problems so we wouldn't make the same mistakes during our filming.
